Lessons

Volunteers will provide valuable assistance to students as they work through their lessons and will also take on the responsibility of supervising the horses. This involvement is crucial in ensuring that everyone has a smooth and enjoyable experience throughout the activities.

General

As a general volunteer, you will aid our mission by helping with events and offering administrative support. We appreciate your enthusiasm, and your contributions will be essential in areas that require assistance. Together, we can create a positive!

  • Who can volunteer at Purple Pony Therapy?
    At Purple Pony, we welcome volunteers from all walks of life, provided they meet a few basic criteria. - Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and possess a genuine interest in our mission to support therapeutic horse riding for individuals with disabilities. - No previous experience with horses or therapy is required, as we offer comprehensive training. Whether you're a high school student looking for community service opportunities, a retiree wanting to give back, or anyone in between, if you have a passion for helping others and a commitment to making a positive impact, we invite you to join our team.
  • What should I wear when volunteering at Purple Pony Therapy?
    For safety and comfort, wear the following: Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots with a heel. No sneakers, sandals, or open-toed shoes. Clothing: Long pants like jeans or breeches. No shorts or skirts. Tops: Fitted, comfortable shirt. Preferably long-sleeved or t-shirt. No loose or flowing clothing. Dress for comfort, protection, and practicality to create a safe, enjoyable environment.
  • How often do I have to volunteer at Purple Pony Therapy?
    - At Purple Pony Therapy, we value flexibility and understand that our volunteers have varying schedules. We ask our volunteers to commit to about 2 hours a week, per each 9 week session to ensure a consistent level of support for our programs. - Our weekly schedule helps us maintain high-quality services and allows volunteers to integrate this meaningful activity into their regular routines. However, you're more than welcome to contribute more hours if your availability allows. We offer various volunteering opportunities, so you can choose times and roles that fit your personal schedule.
  • When Do Sessions Run?
    Typical sessions run in fall and spring times, check website for further details.
  • What do you do in the event of rain?
    We are blessed with a beautiful indoor riding arena that is protected from the elements. In the event of severe weather, directors will notify riders and volunteers of any cancellations.
  • What do lessons cost?
    Lessons cost riders $360.00 for a total of nine sessions.
